Belarus and Algeria Agree to Strengthen Friendship and Adopt a Roadmap for the Next Two Years

A joint statement on strengthening the relations of friendship and partnership between Belarus and Algeria has been signed by the heads of state, Alexander Lukashenko and Abdelmadjid Tebboune, following official talks, BELTA correspondent reports.

In the presence of the leaders of the two countries, a number of documents were also signed, the main one being a roadmap for the development of cooperation between Belarus and Algeria for the period 2026-2027.

"Money loves silence. Therefore, we will not specify concrete contracts in the roadmap. It would probably be wrong. But the main directions and those responsible for specific directions fixed in the roadmap must be identified. With specific deadlines for implementation," Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, Co-chairman of the Belarusian-Algerian Intergovernmental Commission Artur Karpovich told reporters.

He explained that the roadmap is adopted for two years, as everything in the world changes rapidly: "It probably doesn't make much sense to create a roadmap for 5 years. A roadmap should be for the near future."

The minister noted that Algerians are Eastern people, and sometimes certain issues are not resolved easily. "But when they see that you are with an open soul, an open heart, then the attitude towards you is appropriate. We establish a dialogue with any minister, and a very specific one," he said.

It has already been determined that the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission will be held in Minsk in the first half of February 2026.

Agreements on military-technical cooperation, cooperation in the field of animal health, scientific research, technological development, and innovation have been concluded.

Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation in the legal sphere, in the field of scientific research and industrial development, in the field of agriculture, in the sphere of entrepreneurship and innovation, and in the field of higher education have been signed at the level of relevant departments.

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding on accreditation has been concluded between the Belarusian State Centre for Accreditation and ALGERAC.
