Beshankovichy. Ice does not forgive mistakes
Early January is the height of winter, a real paradise for lovers and connoisseurs of ice fishing, as they say. Surely each of us has observed such a scene: no sooner had the ice on lakes and rivers strengthened properly, than there was an uncountable number of fishermen on the water bodies.
Unfortunately, in recent years, winters have not been consistent. Short-term frosts are replaced by positive temperatures, and vice versa, so it is not always safe to go out on the ice. To prevent accidents, especially concerning winter fishing enthusiasts, rescuers and representatives of the water rescue service constantly organize preventive raids.
It's a weekday, around 12 o'clock. Suleiman Sadykov, Chairman of the district organization of the Water Rescue Society, Daria Beresten, propaganda inspector of the district emergency situations department, and Roman Kudryashov, junior district police inspector, decided to first check the most visited fishing spots: the lakes in the agro-town of Sokorovo, and recreation areas on the Zapadnaya Dvina River. Approaching the men who were fishing near the shore, the raid participants invited them for a preventive conversation.
- Do you have a life jacket with you? - asked Suleiman Sadykovich.
- No, why would I need it. I'm fishing near the shore, and the ice here is about 18 centimeters thick.
A convincing argument, but it doesn't take much for trouble to occur. It's still better to be safe than sorry...
- Next time, don't forget to take a life jacket with you before going to the water body, and inquire about the ice thickness. Remember, strong ice is blue and at least 7 centimeters thick. If the ice has shades of gray or milky white, it is dangerous to step on it, - recommended S. S. Sadykov, Chairman of the district organization of the Water Rescue Society.
Taking the opportunity, the EMERCOM employee handed out useful memos to the men on safety precautions on thin ice.
Next, the entire raid group proceeded to the Ullsky Lyceum of Agricultural Production named after L. M. Dovator, where they held a preventive talk with the students. Suleiman Sadykovich once again reminded the students how treacherous thin ice can be and what safety measures should be followed when going ice fishing. In turn, the ROCHS inspector reminded the children about fire safety rules.
Take care of yourselves and remember – nothing is more valuable than life; be attentive in observing the basic and simplest ice safety rules.
