The Beshenkovichi District Department for Emergency Situations conducts daily information and awareness campaigns among the population to prevent fires.

The statistics are not always comforting; the main causes of fires are careless handling of fire, violation of the rules for the installation and operation of stove heating and electrical equipment. Therefore, during meetings with work collectives, as well as in post offices in the district, rescuers draw citizens' attention to the rules for the installation and operation of stove heating, and emphasize the importance of assisting elderly parents and relatives.

39% of all fire fatalities are pensioners who, due to their age and health, are no longer able to maintain heating appliances in proper condition. Therefore, it is our duty to provide feasible assistance in bringing their homes into a fire-safe condition and to install autonomous fire alarms in their living rooms.
