Beshenkovichi district joined the project «Living memory of grateful generations»
Beshenkovichi District has joined the "Living Memory of Grateful Generations" project. Representatives of the district authorities, work collectives, public organizations, and schoolchildren collected about 20 kilograms of Soviet and other coins, which will be added to the alloy of the "Living Memory of Grateful Generations" monument.
The main inspirer and implementer of the project is the team of the Alexey Talay Charitable Foundation – a public figure, Paralympian, multiple world and European record holder, laureate of the President of the Republic of Belarus awards, and holder of the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation.
The idea of creating the "Living Memory of Grateful Generations" monument in three locations of the union space – in the hero city of Minsk, the hero fortress of Brest, and the hero city of Moscow – arose in 2021. To determine the image of the monument, a sketch competition was held by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus with the participation of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus. The winner was a sketch depicting a front-line letter with a tree growing through a bullet hole in it.
Two of the planned trilogy of obelisks of the all-people's monument have already been unveiled. For the first memorial sign, which was installed in 2022 in Minsk in Victory Park, over 130,000 coins were collected from more than 100,000 families from Belarus and Russia. The Head of State of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, also took part in the campaign and donated coins from his family. More than 500,000 families from Belarus and Russia joined forces to create the second monument, with compatriots from abroad also participating. It was installed in 2024 in the Brest Fortress in honor of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
The third monument, the collection for which is nearing completion, will be erected this year on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The coins collected by the residents of Beshenkovichi have already been handed over to the representative of the charitable foundation of Alexey Talay for the city of Vitebsk and the Vitebsk region. This is our contribution to the implementation of an important and significant project. It is symbolic that the transfer of the monetary signs took place on the eve of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
«The project "Living Memory of Grateful Generations" has a very deep meaning, — noted the Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee Alexander Erashov. – Hundreds of thousands of Belarusians have already joined it. It is gratifying that the project is being implemented jointly with our Russian brothers, this once again proves that we are united. There are no borders between us, because our grandfathers and great-grandfathers defended the Motherland in the same ranks. The memory of the Great Patriotic War has no statute of limitations, it lives in people's hearts despite the attempts of individual countries to erase historical truth. Memory teaches us to value freedom and peace, and this is very important!»
