DEATHS OF YOUNG CHILDREN IN WATER BODIES
Dear parents! Summer is a wonderful time for recreation, positive emotions, and vivid impressions. However, it is also the most dangerous period for children. Therefore, do everything you can to protect your child from trouble. Try to make your leisure time as safe as possible, stay close to your children, and take care of them.
We would like to emphasize once again that the most important thing parents should remember is that children should not be left unattended near water. This is a rule that all adults must strictly follow. Unfortunately, young children left unattended by adults often drown in water:
July 26th became a fatal day for a 10-year-old child from the village of Antonova Buda, Belynichi district, Mogilev region. The boy went fishing on the bank of a reservoir with four friends. It was a fire pond overgrown with reeds. The children were fishing from the bank. When it got hot, they decided to swim. Some were splashing near the shore, while the 4th grader went further. According to the children, they saw the boy standing in the water up to his neck, then they got distracted, and the child disappeared from view. The children called rescuers. The drowned boy was found 10 meters from the shore.
On June 29th, a vacation on the Neman River almost ended in tragedy for a mother and her 9-year-old daughter. The girl was vacationing with her mother in a recreational area near the Lososno rescue station. The little girl was swimming on an inflatable ring. At some point, the girl lost her inflatable ring, reached for it, found herself in deep water, and began to drown. The struggling child was noticed by the rescue station staff. The girl was pulled out of the water and handed over to her mother.
Another incident occurred on Lake Yubileynoye in Grodno on June 30th. There, a nearby teenager was the first to notice a drowning 7-year-old girl. He pulled the child out of the water, and the rescuers who arrived performed resuscitation measures. The young hero was awarded.
Not only large bodies of water, but also decorative ponds, and even containers with water pose a danger, especially to small children. Only parents who are aware of the potential dangers and take them seriously, no matter how rare and unlikely they may seem, can protect their child from misfortune. When you are near water with children, you cannot lose vigilance for a minute.
Important! Do not lose sight of children playing near water bodies. It is best if the child plays in the water with an adult.only this way can you be completely sure of its safety. If you are not participating in the games, make sure the child is within your sight.
RIDING ON WATERCRAFT
Many citizens own various watercraft (boats, jet skis, motorboats, etc.), while others use rented ones. In any case, water recreation enthusiasts must remember that riding on any watercraft requires strict adherence to safety rules during their operation, the violation of which can lead to irreparable consequences:
Important! Everyone on board the watercraft must wear life jackets.
It is forbidden:
- to exceed the established number of people on board;
- to operate watercraft while intoxicated;
- for the operator of the watercraft to go beyond the areas marked by buoys designated for swimming;
- to jump into the water from a boat;
- to sit on the sides, move from place to place, and transfer to other boats, motorboats;
- to go out on the water on watercraft that are completely unsuitable for this purpose;
- to approach watercraft closely, as whirlpools, waves, and currents arise near them: a swimmer can be pulled under them.
