A Hour of Remembrance "In the Footsteps of Great Courage" was held in the reading room of the Beshenkovichi Central District Hospital.
Members of the district veterans' organization, visitors of the day care department for the elderly of the Territorial Center for Social Services, and cultural workers gathered to remember their fellow countrymen – participants of the Great Patriotic War, who helped bring closer the victorious May of 1945.
Local historian, chairman of the district veterans' organization Anatoly Krachkovsky spoke about Ivan Boboedov, Evdokia Babenkova, Nikolai Ovchinnikov, Andrei Sukhushin, Zinaida Sukhushina, Andrei Bukhanov, Zinaida Tarasevich, Viktor Rutko, Ivan Shipulya, Lazar Grinvald-Mukha, Mikhail Pasamanov, Semyon Tkachenko, Ivan Chuklay.
They remembered fellow countrymen who took part in the Victory Parades in Moscow. These are Evgeny Teleshov, Mikhail Proshchenko, Pavel Batalko, as well as a participant in the liberation of the district, film actor Vladimir Gulyaev.
"Thank you for sharing your knowledge," thanked Anatoly Krachkovsky the participants of the meeting, many of whom know about the war firsthand: from relatives and friends, veterans who lived and worked nearby. – To remember means to know the history of your country, to know about the people who won peace for us…"
