To minimize the consequences of floods, the Ministry of Emergency Situations recommends that the population living in potentially flood-prone areas take simple anti-flood measures (while observing safety precautions), including:
clear the yard of snow and ice;
clear drainage and sewage ditches of debris, branches, and ice;
ensure the diversion of meltwater from enclosed depressions by creating diversion trenches (ditches);
if necessary, build simple water barriers from improvised materials;
remove items from the yard that could be damaged by water, and move valuables and necessary belongings to the attic or upper floors.

How to act in case of a flood threat?
Follow official reports from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local authorities, and Belhydromet. If a warning about possible flooding of the territory is received, take the following measures:
prepare a first-aid kit, a supply of drinking water and food;
turn off gas and electricity if there is a risk of flooding of premises;
wrap money and documents in waterproof bags;
follow reports on radio, television, and the Internet.

For reference: in case it is impossible for the population to stay at their place of residence due to high water levels, measures have been planned in each region for the resettlement of citizens to temporary accommodation.

If there is no threat to life and health of people, for pumping water out of basements (cellars) and adjacent areas, you should contact the utility service by dialing the single number 115.
