Once again about safety!
The agro-town of Ulla, located in the Beshenkovichi district, is known for its unfortunate statistics nationwide. In December 2021, three people died in a residential house fire here. This year, a man born in 1987 sustained burns to 90% of his body in a fire and died a few days later in a healthcare facility. The causes of the aforementioned fires are identical – alcohol combined with an unextinguished cigarette.
This past weekend, rescuers from the Beshenkovichi district decided to conduct a large-scale preventive event in the agro-town to updateknowledge of citizens about life safety rules, and to remind about the sad statistics of the settlement.
Rescuers decided to approach this issue comprehensively. First of all, the most visited public places were identified in the agro-town. These included three retail outlets, the Ulla House of Culture, and the post office. Here, activists of the Belarusian Youth
Public Association of Rescuers-Firefighters – students of the Ulla State Vocational Lyceum named after L.M. Dovator, updatedinformation on information stands, handed out thematic leaflets to visitors, and also left leaflets at information desks. In the most popular shop of the agro-town, a safety post was set up. Here, an inspector of the life safety promotion sector and public relations of the Beshenkovichi District Department for Emergency Situations, Daria Beresten reminded those present aboutsafety rules in residential buildings and rules of conduct in case of
fire detection.
Concurrently with the work carried out in the agro-town, a supervisory commission operated under the leadership of Gennady Anashko, the Chairman of the Rural Executive Committee. The inspection of the places of residence of citizens registered for abusing alcoholic beverages became a priority for the commission's work. Additionally, 7 more rescuers from the Beshenkovichi District Department for Emergency Situations checked the safety of citizens' households and conducted explanatory conversations. During the inspection of households, all citizens were invited to a rural meeting, which was scheduled for 13:00 at the rural house of culture as a concluding event.an, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">stage of the preventive event.

They also addressed issues of safety onana, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">bodies of water in the district and the region. Here, the statistics are also discouraging. On bodies of water in the region, 10 people have drowned since the beginning of 2023. Excessive overconfidence in one's own experience and the lack of safety equipment on water are the main risk factors when venturing onto thin ice in the spring.
The residents of the agro-town actively participated in the dialogue, asking questions about therules for tidying up private yards and cemeteries, as well as aboutliability for burning dry vegetation.
At the end of the event, all attendees received thematicmemoranda and promised to pay closer attention to life safety issues.
