Year of Improvement: What Has Been Done in Beshenkovichi District, Says Head of the District Inspectorate for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Sergey Karas
2025 has been declared the Year of Improvement in the Republic of Belarus by decree of President Alexander Lukashenko, marking the beginning of a five-year period of quality aimed at improving people's living environment, enhancing their safety and comfort.
What has been done to improve the land and environmental protection activities in Beshenkovichi? Sergey Karas, Head of the District Inspectorate for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, shares:
— Almost everything planned has been accomplished, — Sergey Alexandrovich reported. — This year, 625 trees and 700 shrubs have been planted in the district. While in 2024, due to the preparation of the urban settlement of Beshenkovichi for the rural workers' festival-fair "Dozhinki-2024," such work was primarily carried out in the district center, in 2025, priority was given to rural areas. Lawns have been reconstructed on an area of 2 hectares in the settlements of the district. 25,000 flower seedlings have been planted.
Attention has also been paid to greening the areas along local roads. For example, thanks to the employees of the Beshenkovichi branch of DRSU-110, 30 pine trees have been planted along the "Zabelie — Kholm" road.
Places of mass public recreation by water were also put in order. Sanitary cleaning of the water area of two reservoirs at "Chistye Prudy" in the district center and in the village of Pushkari was carried out over an area of 0.5 hectares, their improvement was completed, and 15 small architectural forms were repaired and additionally installed – these include sun loungers, changing cabins, etc. Container sites for solid municipal waste collection, sports grounds for beach volleyball, and toilets have been equipped. Parking lots and bicycle parking facilities are maintained in proper condition. In accordance with the requirements, stands were set up by the Belarusian Voluntary Society for Rescue on Waters (OSVOD), and lifeguard duty was organized at "Chistye Prudy" in the district center.
The district also combatted invasive plants. Chemical treatment was carried out on an area of 2.05 hectares for Canadian goldenrod and 18.4 hectares for Sosnowsky's hogweed.
All measures collectively contribute to the creation of a comfortable, safe, and ecologically sustainable environment for people's lives, meeting modern requirements and promoting an improvement in the quality of life for the population.
