GOSPROMNADZOR RECOMMENDS: algorithm for the elevator owner on the procedure for suspending its use (storage during operation)

The temporary suspension of elevator use (storage during operation) for reasons other than emergency repair, for a period exceeding 24 hours, shall be documented by an administrative act of the owner.

When suspending elevator use, the owner must take a series of measures aimed at its safe storage:

place warning signs on the hoistway doors and at landings (platforms) indicating the elevator is out of service;

take actions to restrict unauthorized access to the hoistway, pit, machine room, block room, and other elevator-related spaces;

ensure electrical safety for users, qualified personnel, and other individuals when interacting with elevator controls and/or touching elevator structures that may be energized (disconnect the elevator's main power supply and post a sign stating "Elevator is disconnected and in storage");

appoint, by administrative act of the elevator owner, a person responsible for the elevator's storage during its operation period, for the duration of the suspension.

For elevators suspended for more than 15 days, it is necessary to establish the timelines and procedures for monitoring the elevator's condition and the implementation of the specified measures during the storage period.

If it becomes necessary to resume elevator operation, preparatory work for use must be carried out in accordance with the operating documentation beforehand.
