Information about Public Legal Information Centers (PLIC) established on the basis of state libraries

To ensure the realization of citizens' right to receive complete, reliable, and timely legal information in the Republic of Belarus, a state legal information system has been established.

 One of its elements is the public legal information centers, established by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus jointly with the National Center of Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus on the basis of state public libraries.

The Public Center for Legal Information is a point of free access for citizens to reference legal information, established to ensure the formation of legal knowledge, skills of lawful behavior, respectful attitude towards the law, and to promote legal education activities for citizens.

The objectives of the Public Center for Legal Information are:

  • Organizing free access for citizens to reference legal information;
  • formation of a fund of periodic and non-periodic printed and electronic publications, state information and legal resources containing reference legal information, and materials of a scientific and practical nature that contribute to the full and adequate perception by citizens of their rights and obligations;
  • use of effective forms and methods of library, information, and reference and bibliographic services for the purpose of forming legal knowledge, skills of lawful behavior, and respectful attitude towards law in citizens.
