Rescue story. In Beshenkovichi, a beaver that fell into an open well was rescued

On October 14, during raid activities in the village of Drozd, Beshenkovichi district, Mikhail Tanygin, an employee of the Beshenkovichi Regional Emergency Situations Department, discovered an adult beaver in an uncovered well. It was immediately obvious that the animal had fallen into the well accidentally and could not get out on its own. The rescuer informed his superiors about the incident by phone. A decision was made immediately – it was necessary to help the mammal. The owner of the well, the management of the Beshenkovichi District Inspectorate for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, and the district executive committee were informed, and as part of a commission, they went to the scene to assess the situation and determine the method of rescuing the beaver.
It was not possible to get the animal out with a net or other improvised means. The beaver categorically refused to cooperate, not understanding that people wanted to help. After several unsuccessful attempts, the rescuers proposed a new solution – to fill the well with water so that the aquatic mammal could swim to the surface on its own. To deliver the necessary amount of water, they sought help from the management of the Beshenkovichi water utility. Within 20 minutes, specialized equipment arrived, the well was filled with water, and the beaver left the well on its own.
Rescuers said that this is not the first case of animals falling into open wells. Such incidents are dangerous not only due to the inability to get out on their own but also due to the risk of various injuries. If you find an uncovered well, please report it to representatives of local authorities and the housing and communal services. In case of finding an injured animal in a well, you must report it by calling 101 or 112. Stay safe!
