How Belarusians celebrated the Day of National Unity

Как белорусы отметили День народного единства

Traditionally, on the Day of National Unity, which we are celebrating for the fifth time, festive events were held in all corners of the republic. The participation of many Belarusians in them became a vivid illustration of our main choice: a strong, independent, and prosperous Belarus.

Together we will overcome any challenges

The final of the republican socio-political campaign "Belarus United," dedicated to the Day of National Unity, gathered patriots from all over the country at the Palace of Sports on September 17. Performances by pop artists and dance groups dedicated to our beloved, united, and only country, a sea of state flags, bright eyes, and smiles – the celebration was a success!

Participants, including prominent political figures, activists of public associations, and representatives of civil society, raised the most important issues. Everyone has their own point of view, but they are all united by one thing – love for their Motherland. By the way, it was on this platform that Belarusians first showed the world their aspiration to overcome any challenges together. In 1996, the I All-Belarusian People's Assembly was held under the arches of the Palace of Sports.

Time for new victories!

The concluding event of the Day of National Unity in the Vitebsk region was the Forum of Patriotic Forces "Time Chose Us. Time for New Victories," which took place in the Summer Amphitheater.

The residents of the country's northern region have repeatedly proven their devotion to their native Belarus, uniting to overcome the challenges of time, and this spirit of unity is their main strength. This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, addressing the participants of the patriotic forum. Beshenkovichi residents were among them.

"Very recently, faced with adverse weather conditions, our farmers demonstrated incredible organization and unity," emphasized the head of the region. "Shoulder to shoulder, they went out into the fields and, thanks to selfless labor, coordinated work, and the support of townspeople, military personnel, and grain growers from neighboring regions, achieved a record harvest – they threshed a million tons of grain! When trouble came to our neighbors, as happened during the summer hurricane with the Mogilev region, the Vitebsk region, without hesitation, provided them with all possible assistance. I am confident that together we will overcome any obstacles and preserve peace and stability in our land! We are building a strong and prosperous country that our children and grandchildren will be proud of."

The festive program in the Summer Amphitheater became a bright conclusion to a series of events dedicated to the Day of National Unity; the patriotic marathon covered all regions of the Vitebsk region without exception. Numerous car rallies, flash mobs, thematic events, and the solemn opening of socially significant objects and various locations demonstrated that this relatively new state holiday has become truly national.

There is no future without the past

On the Day of National Unity, the district leadership, delegations from labor collectives, representatives of the deputy corps, public organizations, youth, labor veterans, and guests of the district center gathered in Komsomoltsy Park for the solemn rally "Peace and Unity - the Strength of the People." After that, fellow countrymen went to the village of Galyni, where they honored the memory of the Fatherland's defenders at the mass grave. The Day of National Unity is a tribute to the feat of the older generation, who defended the right to creation and a happy future.

"Land of the Krivichi. Traditions and Crafts"

A presentation of the media exhibition "Land of the Krivichi. Traditions and Crafts" was held at the district cultural center.

The exhibition is part of the large-scale project "Land of Krivichi — Territory of Unity of Peoples of Russia and Belarus Based on Common History and Culture". The project was developed by the Smolensk Regional Branch of the International Public Foundation "Russian Peace Foundation" and supported by the Presidential Grants Foundation. The Chairperson of the Board of the Smolensk Regional Branch of the Foundation, Elena Ulyanenkova, took part in the event.
Guests and residents of the district can visit the exhibition for a month at the House of Crafts.

A Country is United When the People are United

After the presentation of the media exhibition, a festive concert "Belarus Adzinaya" (United Belarus) was held on the stage of the RCC.

The residents of the district were congratulated on the Day of National Unity by the Chairperson of the District Executive Committee, Galina Unukovich. The Chairperson of the Board of the Vitebsk Regional Branch of the Public Association "Belarusian Peace Foundation", Tatyana Tumanova, spoke about the importance of unity of fraternal peoples and preserving peace in her speech.
As part of the event, the winners of the "Historical Dictation - 2025" were awarded. 16 teams from district organizations and schoolchildren, as well as 4 teams from the neighboring Vitebsk, Chashniksky, and Shumilinsky districts, took part in it.

In the nomination "The Wisest History Connoisseur," the winner was Leonid Alexandrovich Blagodorov (team of the public association of veterans).
