"Bozhy Slyadok" Footprint Stone

The stone is a gray, oval-shaped granite boulder with a diameter of 1.9 m. It was found on the outskirts of the village of Shchiptsy.

On its flat upper surface, a distinct elongated depression of natural origin is visible, resembling the imprint of a small human foot, 15 cm long, with a slight indentation in the shape of a footprint.

Local residents were amazed that the depression so closely resembled a footprint and believed that only God could have left it in such hard stone. Therefore, the footprint stone was revered and considered sacred.

According to belief, the stone granted happy marriages to unmarried women and parental happiness to childless couples. One had to touch its moss-covered surface or sit on it, asking God for help. According to one legend, the stone contributes to strengthening family ties and protects children from negative influences. The water accumulating in the depression also possesses amazing properties; it was collected by people and used for healing.
