Everyone is obliged to know the procedure for actions upon receiving the "Attention to all!" signal.
The widespread use of new technologies and materials, various energy sources, and the mass application of hazardous substances in industry and agriculture significantly increase the risk of man-made disasters. Modern production facilities are constantly becoming more complex and designed with a high degree of reliability. However, achieving absolute accident-free operation is not possible, which raises the question: what to do, how to protect yourself and your family in case of an emergency?
To ensure timely information about all types of dangers and about measures to be taken for protective actions, a notification system has been established in Belarus, operating at the republican, territorial, local, and facility levels. Emergency warning signals are transmitted via radio and television broadcasting networks, wired communication, and SMS messages to mobile phones. Sirens are also activated, and signals from vehicles and street loudspeakers are used.
First and foremost, to attract people's attention, the warning signal "Attention everyone!" is sounded. It can be recognized by the sound of electric sirens and other signaling devices for a duration of 3 minutes. If you hear such a signal at home, you should immediately turn on your radio receivers or televisions. At this time, an emergency message will be broadcast, informing about the occurred emergency situation and providing all necessary recommendations for subsequent actions.
If you are at work, turn off the equipment. Prepare the wired broadcasting nodes located in the notified area, turn on the radio or television. Inform others about the received signal and prepare to listen to the voice information. Further actions should be determined directly by these instructions.
Chemically hazardous facilities have their own local alert systems, which must be in a state of constant readiness to transmit signals and information. This system informs not only the management and personnel of the facility about the danger, but also the population within the zone of possible impact.
Everyone should know that the main danger lies in your hasty actions. In case of a threat, first of all, remain calm, do not panic, clearly assess the situation and strictly follow all recommendations – then you will find a way out of the situation much faster!
