Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee: a month of ensuring safety of working conditions and labor protection has been announced during the period of mass haymaking and fodder crop harvesting
A month-long campaign to ensure safe working conditions and labor protection during mass haymaking and fodder crop harvesting has been announced in the Vitebsk region starting June 10. The corresponding order was signed by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
Emphasis is placed on agricultural enterprises' efforts in organizing the production of high-quality silage from first-cut grasses, its subsequent storage, and use in compliance with labor protection, fire safety, and sanitary and epidemiological legislation requirements.
During this period, the work of mobile groups, comprising representatives of supervisory and control bodies, centers for hygiene, epidemiology, and public health, trade unions, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Labor Inspectorate, will be intensified.
Mobile groups will examine the provision of employees with personal protective equipment, sound tools, machinery, equipment, and devices, as well as conditions for meals and rest, and sanitary and auxiliary facilities.
Since the beginning of the year, several similar events have been organized: a month-long campaign to ensure the safety of workers during the cold period and spring field work.
As a result of the conducted raids, over 4,000 gross violations of legislation were identified. Since the beginning of the year, 3.7 thousand employees have been held accountable for consuming alcoholic beverages, with over 500 of them dismissed.
In accordance with Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 5 "On Strengthening Requirements for Managers and Employees of Organizations," 400 officials who allowed violations of production-technological or labor discipline have been subjected to disciplinary action.
The complex of measures being implemented contributes to reducing industrial injuries in the region's organizations. The total number of workplace injuries has decreased by 5 percent. Primarily, injuries are sustained by workers due to personal carelessness or violations of safety requirements, labor, and production discipline.
Nevertheless, the situation with industrial injuries remains relevant and is under special control.
