The cultural and sports festival "Vytoki.
Krok da Alimpu"
is already well-known in many regions of the country.
On August 12 and 13, the festival will take place in the most ancient Belarusian city of Polotsk, which celebrates its 1160th anniversary this year. The history of our state for many centuries has been inextricably linked with this center of Belarusian culture and history.
The festival will open with a press tour for representatives of republican and regional media, organizers and participants (2 F. Skorina Ave., Slaviansky GK; start at 13:00). The press tour program includes visits to the gallery-branch of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve on the territory of the former Jesuit Collegium, the memorial complex commemorating the victims of "Urochishche Peski," one of the leading enterprises "Polotsk-Steкловолокно," and the historical building of Polotsk State University (former Jesuit Academy).
On the first day of "Vytoki," a seminar will also be heldof sports organizations of the Vitebsk region (Polotsk State University, Strelchetskaya St., 4a-4;
15:00). The seminar-practical session is also organized by the Belarusian
Olympic Academy (Polotsk State
University, Strelchetskaya St.,
4a-4; 15:00). During the seminar, participants will get acquainted
with the Olympic values and achievements of Belarusian athletes
at the main events of the four-year period.
Master classes on block printing on the theme: “Malyavanka.
The Origins of Original Art” will be held at the City House of Culture (Gogol St.,
15; 16:00 and 18:00), where visitors can learn about the works of masters of this type of decorative and applied art of Belarus,
and also create a memorable souvenir with their own hands.
Malyavanyya dyvany – translated from the Belarusian language means “painted carpets” – this is a type of folk art, large-sized paintings painted on homespun canvas or burlap of black or dark brown color with oil or homemade glue paints.
Among the most famous artists who worked in this technique is Yazep Drozdovich. "Malyavanki" are included in the state list of historical and cultural values.
The first day of the festival will conclude with an organ music concert by Valery Shmat (GDK, Gogol St., 15; 20:00).
The central venue for the "VyToka. Krok da Alimp" festival
on August 13 will be Freedom Square. Everyone will have the opportunity to participate in an Olympic quest, try their hand
at sports competitions, various sports, complete tasks, and receive valuable prizes (from 13:00 to 17:00).
A food court, a family recreation area,
and the "Belarusian Brands" exhibition-sale will be available for participants (from 11:00).
Sports grounds will be organized for more than 20 sports: boxing, cycling, volleyball, basketball, athletics, weightlifting, karate, kickboxing, ice hockey, fire and rescue sports, football, tennis, table tennis, handball, and
others. During the quest, organizers suggest paying special attention to the orienteering site.At "Vytoki" for the first time, locations of the twin cities of Polotsk will be presented: Veliky Novgorod, Velikiye Luki, and children from Russian Sebezh and Pskov will take part
in the Olympic quest.
The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) and the general sponsor of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, OJSC "Belagroprombank", are also inviting guests to their sites in Polotsk.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) is organizing its own interesting location, and you can also take a selfie against the backdrop of the racing truck of the "MAZ-SPORTavto" team.
During the Olympic quest, the sites of the Belarusian Olympic Academy, the Scientific and Practical Center for Sports (SPCS)
and the National Anti-Doping Agency will be operating.
The festival's evening program will feature a presentation of clothing collections from the "Rodnae – Modnae" project (17:00) by Belarusian enterprises, designers, and entrepreneurs. Everyone will also have the opportunity to purchase products from Belarusian brands.
The best young performers will be determined on the main stage in the vocal competition (18:00). The laureates will receive diplomas and prizes, and will also have the opportunity to participate in master classes with leading mentors of the country in the future.
The festival program in Polotsk will continue on August 13 with a concert and entertainment program with the participation of popular artists of the Belarusian stage (Svobody Square; 20:00). The celebration in Polotsk will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display (23:00).
The final stop of the "Vytoki" cultural and sports festival in 2022 will be Kopyl (August 26-27).
The main goal of the project is to unlock the region's potential through sports, culture, science, and education.
The organizers of the "Vytoki" festival are the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Belarus, ArtChaos LLC, and BelBrandAudit LLC.
