Belarusian President, Chairman of the Belarusian People's Congress Alexander Lukashenko outlined the upcoming agenda at a meeting of the Presidium of the Belarusian People's Congress on November 25, BELTA correspondent reports.

The event is organized during the active preparation for the second session of the VII Belarusian People's Congress, which will be held on December 18-19. At this stage, it is necessary to make decisions that will be submitted for the consideration of the Congress, as well as to discuss a number of organizational issues, the President noted.

"The task of the Presidium is to prepare the substantive part of the upcoming Belarusian People's Congress. First of all, it is necessary to form the agenda for its session and decide on the speakers," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.

Firstly, the President's Address to the Belarusian people and parliament is planned. In accordance with the updated Constitution, annual addresses are heard only at the venue of the Belarusian People's Congress.

Secondly, the Congress is to approve the country's socio-economic development program for the next five-year period. Its key provisions were discussed at a recent meeting of the head of state with the government and a working group of specialized experts. "The discussion held provided an opportunity to hear alternative points of view. Reasonable proposals have been taken into account," Alexander Lukashenko stressed. "As set out, the program is aimed at improving people's well-being and quality of life." On his instructions, the revised program has been distributed to the delegates of the Belarusian People's Congress, who are to actively engage in its discussion locally.

Third, the All-Belarusian People's Congress needs to resolve personnel issues. For example, a new member of the Presidium of the All-Belarusian People's Congress needs to be elected to replace the one who has left. "We have a compact Presidium, it is undesirable to have vacancies," the head of state noted.

In addition, personnel proposals from the supreme courts have been submitted to the Presidium meeting. They will be presented by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Petr Miklashevich, and the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Valentin Sukalo. The decision on these proposals, in accordance with the procedure, is made by open vote. "If you approve them, then the delegates will have to make appropriate decisions - to reject or support," the head of state explained.

Alexander Lukashenko oriented the participants of the event to clearly determine which issues of preparation for the meeting of the All-Belarusian People's Congress have already been resolved, and what requires additional attention from the President.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that the current meeting of the Presidium of the All-Belarusian People's Congress, in addition to its practical tasks of preparing for the upcoming meeting of the All-Belarusian People's Congress, has important symbolic significance. "This is a signal to our society that a very large event awaits us, on which the lives of our people depend. And implementing what will be adopted at the All-Belarusian People's Congress is the task of everyone. This concerns everyone: the entire society and, above all, the authorities," the Belarusian leader stated.
