The head of state recalled that at one time, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was necessary to restore once successful agricultural organizations that found themselves in a difficult situation in the 1990s. At that time, some countries opted to sell land. However, Belarus made a different choice, and now collective farms, state farms, and so on are operating effectively. Within such an established and well-functioning system, there is an opportunity to transfer individual land plots to farmers for agricultural purposes.

"Then I had to show: this is the path we will take – large-scale farming. But if someone wants to become a farmer – please, here is the land. Today, there are no problems at all. Take any farm. Of course, no one will give you "Rassvet" (Dawn), you understand that there will be a fight for this "Rassvet" or for some lands. These are peasants, you can't break them... You need to be careful," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.

Today, there are no problems in establishing farms, he added. However, the difficulty lies in the fact that many who currently request agricultural land plots wish to have "large latifundia," meaning to engage in large-scale production, but on a private level. "Please. We have them. But I will say right away that well-functioning farms (the majority of them), of course, will not be given away. Why break them? They are working – let them work. And where a private individual needs to apply their efforts – please, we will support them," stated the head of state.

"We talk with those who work," he added.
