Lukashenko Raised Key Issues Regarding the Proposed Deficit Budget for 2026

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko raised key issues regarding the proposed deficit budget for 2026. This was discussed at a meeting on draft forecast documents for the upcoming year, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"How well are the economic plans integrated and balanced with the budget? The materials indicate that the Ministry of Finance has developed a deficit budget, albeit not a critical one. And we face significant state debt payments (2026 is one of the peak periods). Are there sources to cover them? Will all social obligations be fully and timely met?" - said the head of state.

He also noted that new state programs will come into effect next year. The government has already formed their list, which will be considered separately. "Most of them are socio-economic in nature and financed from budgets. But what is the basis of these programs? How was the need for resources determined? These must be realistic, practically applicable plans for specific and effective results!" - emphasized the Belarusian leader.

According to him, certain innovations in tax legislation and its administration are also proposed. However, there is no consensus on this issue yet, which is why Alexander Lukashenko criticized why, in such a case, this issue was brought to the President: "Are you going to express your individual opinions to me now? Unacceptable! Report."
