Lukashenko: Main focus in the five-year period will be on the development of Belarusian regions
"The main focus in the five-year period will be on our regions. We have 118 regions. Without their development, there will be nothing to talk about regarding the planned and normal distribution of productive forces," said Alexander Lukashenko. "Our people are there. These regions are not neglected. The centers have been put in order - clean, neat. And every chairman of the district executive committee understands that this is their home, which should be clean. There is no need to overcomplicate things here."
At the same time, the President pointed out the need to develop mobile mechanized columns (PMK). "What kind of chairman of the district executive committee is it if he doesn't have a construction unit? Remember the construction PMKs? They have withered a bit, but we have revived them, started restoring them. They need to be restored so that there are our own builders. So that they can perform at least some simple work," he emphasized.
In addition, the head of state assured that the "One Region - One Project" initiative will be maintained in Belarus. "Where there is a need, we will create some enterprises. We will strengthen this direction," he added.
Alexander Lukashenko, speaking about the development of district centers, drew attention to the development of the road network. "We have basically connected district centers to regional centers with roads, and repaired them. Now our task is to reach agro-towns from district centers, where necessary. We will solve this problem in two years," the President emphasized.
