"At the meeting with the head of state, issues related to the creation of a new educational center, in fact, a new university in the country, for training specialists in the most promising sectors for our economy were comprehensively considered. Various points of view were expressed, many were for, many were against. Therefore, the meeting ended with the President giving instructions to study this issue in detail once again with the widest possible range of stakeholders and submit proposals from the government to the head of state as soon as possible," the minister said.

"Despite the discussions, in conclusion, everyone agreed that the creation of this educational center should be considered a national project," emphasized the head of the educational department.

Andrei Ivants noted that Belarus has a so-called golden fund of young people who are winners of international and republican Olympiads, laureates of the special fund of the Head of State, and graduates of the National Children's Technopark. "Today, they are ready to study not just according to the first-year university program, but to master this program in leaps and bounds. For such young people, we must create special experimental programs that will not only be saturated with serious fundamental theoretical knowledge but, most importantly, will be fully incorporated into interaction with the real sector of the economy," the minister said.

This means that students of the proposed educational center will, among other things, work on specific projects and tasks that need to be solved in the domestic economy.

"The proposed training model assumes that in the first two years, students of this educational center will complete the entire four-year program of study at a traditional university. Starting from the third year, they will work within an individual form of study on specific projects and tasks. This is a fundamental difference – the project-based and research-based principle of organizing studies," Andrei Ivants explained.

Thus, the necessary conditions will be created for all gifted young people to remain in Belarus for further studies and subsequently meet the national economy's needs for highly qualified personnel.

"We are well aware that our country is quite compact. To work with such young people, we must utilize the full potential not only of teachers but also of practicing specialists and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus," the minister noted.
