Ministry of Emergency Situations warns: going out on spring ice is life-threatening!
Active melting of the ice cover is occurring on water bodies. In order to ensure the safety of citizens, prohibitions on going out on the ice during its destruction are currently being introduced in all districts of the republic, as well as in cities of regional subordination.
How to tell if the ice is already dangerous:
• cracks, fissures, and water seepage have appeared;
• the temperature has been above zero for several consecutive days.
If you find yourself on the ice and it breaks:
• call for help, if possible, call rescuers by phone 101 or 112;
• maintain a horizontal position and do not make sudden movements;
• crawl out, leaning on the edge, do not stand up;
• crawl away to a safe distance and only then get up;
• warm up immediately: dry clothes, warmth, hot drinks.
Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and OSVOD are monitoring reservoirs and conducting preventive talks with citizens.
