Tractor drivers of OJSC "Mayak-Vysokoye" of the Orsha district, brothers Denis and Evgeny Pshennye, were the first in the Vitebsk region to thresh a thousand tons of grain.
The milestone was reached on winter wheat, the yield of which, despite difficult weather conditions, turned out to be higher than last year's. Denis became the first "thousand-tonner" of the Pridvinye region, and Evgeny became the leader in the youth nomination.
The "thousand-tonners" were congratulated directly in the field by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin.
– The most important thing is our people, who are ready and able to work. They wait for every fine moment, they "snatch" every ton from the weather. Now it is sunny, and this is a window of opportunity to throw all forces into the battle for the harvest. Here are already two "thousand-tonners". In this difficult season, this can be recorded as a labor feat. Now the task is to increase the pace, collect the grain from the fields, dry it and put it into storage.
Alexander Subbotin noted that the harvest prospects in the region are good this year.
The Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee, Igor Moroz, said that the harvest in the region's fields is generally pleasing.
– The average yield of winter grains is over 45 centners per hectare. 20% of winter grain crops are already in the granaries today. The weather has stabilized, we are gaining momentum. The teams of agricultural enterprises are "charged". All leaders understand the level of responsibility. We will fulfill our task, – expressed the head of the region.
Denis Pshenny shared his secret of success. This is the second harvest for the front-runner at the helm of the combine.
– It's all about the desire to work, – he emphasized. – We are set to harvest the grain in the shortest possible time and without losses. Of course, I was worried that the weather was letting us down. And it's not that I was in a hurry to reach a thousand: I didn't want to lose a single ear of grain.
For the young machine operator Evgeny Pshenny, this harvesting campaign is his sixth. Last year, he was the second in the region to cross the thousand-ton mark. And this year, he became the leader of the harvest among young crews.
– It's motivating! There are no difficulties: the equipment doesn't let us down, the management is understanding, the salary is high. The most important thing is the desire to work and enthusiasm.
The harvest is in full swing, and new records await the region's agrarians.
