The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, with the support of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Belarus, has announced a nationwide competition for sketch designs of a memorial sign to the victims of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War

The purpose of the competition is to find the most expressive artistic solution that, through monumental art, will reflect the tragic events associated with the mass extermination of millions of civilians by Nazi criminals and their accomplices on Belarusian soil during the Great Patriotic War, and will become a unique national symbol of memory for the victims of genocide.

Authors or author teams of sculptors and architects, as well as citizens of our country, near and far abroad, who do not have a special education, are invited to participate in the competition. The participation of both teams from educational institutions and individual students, pupils, teachers, and lecturers is welcome.

The holding of this event in the Year of Historical Memory with broad public discussion is aimed at finding a national idea, forming an objective attitude of society to the historical past, preserving and strengthening the unity of the Belarusian people.

Applications for participation and sketch designs are accepted until November 1, 2022. Detailed information about the competition, its conditions, criteria and procedure for evaluating the materials submitted by participants, deadlines for announcing results, as well as other necessary information are posted on the official websites of the Ministry of Culture (www.kultura.by) and the General Prosecutor's Office (www.prokuratura.gov.by).
