Prevent fires in ecosystems

In the current year alone, 28 instances of dry vegetation fires have been recorded in the district, with 2 structures damaged by fire. The figures for the region as a whole are simply appalling. Rescuers of Vitebsk region have responded 320 times to extinguish fires in ecological systems. All of this represents not only the hard work of rescuers but also damage to the ecology and economy of our country.

Today, a working meeting was held at the Beshenkovichi District Executive Committee on the implementation of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's directive "On additional measures to prevent fires in natural ecosystems."

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Land Management Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, and the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association.

Gennady Shvedov, Chairman of the Beshenkovichi District Council of Deputies, noted that extensive preventive work is being carried out in the district to prevent fires, but the dry start to spring did not contribute to an improvement in the operational situation.

Representatives of the departments reported on the work done and identified joint measures to be implemented before the end of the spring fire hazard period.

Following the meeting, a decision was made to review all chairpersons of rural councils at the next meeting of the district executive committee.
