New animal and plant species have been included in the Red Book of Belarus

By the Resolution of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus dated March 14, 2025, No. 10 "On rare and endangered species of wild animals and wild-growing plants to be included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus," lists of rare and endangered species on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, including subspecies, varieties, and wild animals to be included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus, and rare and endangered species on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, including subspecies, varieties, and wild-growing plants to be included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus, have been established.

Now, the Red Book of Belarus includes 213 species of animals (previously 203) and 310 species of plants (previously 303).

Some species have been completely excluded from the Red Book, while others have been added.

Due to population increases, the status of some species has been lowered. For example, the European bison has been assigned Category IV instead of III, and the lynx and badger now have Category IV instead of II.

The previously effective lists, approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection dated June 9, 2014, No. 26, lost their force on March 31, 2025, based on Resolution No. 11 dated March 14, 2025.
