Today, even children seem to know about the dangers of Sosnowski's hogweed. Meanwhile, people continue to get burns, and landowners are at their wits' end: how to comply with the directives of the district inspectorates of the Ministry of Natural Resources and eradicate this stubborn plant? The seriousness of this problem is evidenced by the fact that last year the government, together with the Ministry of Natural Resources, developed a program for the destruction of Sosnowski's hogweed. 

Hogweed sap makes the skin unable to withstand ultraviolet radiation, and sunlight causes dermatitis; moreover, respiratory allergies can occur. The plant reproduces by seeds, which are carried by the wind. Each plant produces an incredible number of seeds, about twenty thousand, and the most unpleasant thing is that their germination lasts for 12 years. If one plant appears on a plot, within a couple of years it becomes a colony of 20-30 plants that displace other plants growing in our territory; grasses cannot withstand competition with hogweed. For this reason, the public must know how to combat hogweed.

 Remember that hogweed grows not only along highways, riverbanks, and in abandoned fields. Now it often appears in courtyards and parks, near children's play areas. Be vigilant!

If the plant is located near your plot, then naturally, sooner or later it will "come" to your fence and onto your plot. It is very difficult to fight it.

The most dangerous state of hogweed is when the plant is tall and has already formed umbels. During this period, cut and fallen inflorescences will successfully mature and after years

will sprout. Formed inflorescences with fruits must be burned after pruning.

The most effective way to destroy Sosnowsky's hogweed is by spraying with glyphosate-based preparations twice. The frequency of chemical treatment is 3-4 weeks. The dose is determined from the instructions and should be increased by one and a half to two times. It is best to spray hogweed that has grown up to 60 centimeters. Glyphosate-based preparations act in the intercellular space, and their effect will be noticeable after 5-7 days; only after two weeks will the above-ground mass begin to dry out and fall to the ground.
