Military risks and threats are growing along the perimeter of the CSTO borders, especially on the western flank of the organization. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Bishkek at the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

"Military risks and threats are growing along the perimeter of the CSTO borders, especially on the western flank of the organization, where, it would seem, an adequate and stable situation should be maintained. The situation is like a besieged fortress in which Belarus lives today," the President said.

He noted that the combined defense spending of NATO countries in 2025 will be around $1.6 trillion. Germany's military ambitions are growing, as it intends to significantly increase its military spending. Poland, in turn, will allocate almost $55 billion for defense in 2026 (about 5% of GDP) and will become a NATO leader in this indicator. The number of its armed forces has already exceeded 200,000 people. The Baltic states are not far behind Warsaw in terms of growth rate.

"All of the above, combined with aggressive rhetoric, indicates that Western politicians are purposefully preparing for war. It is not we, Vladimir Vladimirovich (President of Russia Vladimir Putin. - Ed. BELTA), who are preparing for war, but according to all facts - they are," the head of state stated.

He also drew attention to the fact that Western countries continue to pump weapons into Ukraine. "Where this weapon is today, everyone understands - it is spreading all over the world," the Belarusian leader noted.
