Season Opening

The Vitebsk Regional Inspectorate for Wildlife Protection reports that starting June 9, anglers are permitted to use small vessels for recreational fishing in fishing grounds, as well as to use the following fishing gear and methods:

fly rods, float rods, tip rods, and bottom rods of all systems, spinning rods;

circles, zherlitsy, stavki, kolobashki, and other similar systems and tackle;

spearguns and pistols for underwater hunting, firing a harpoon with a tip of no more than five prongs (only when conducting underwater hunting);

landing nets with a diameter of no more than 0.5 meters and a mesh size of less than 10 millimeters, and lift nets with a size of no more than 1x1 meter and a mesh size of less than 10 millimeters for catching fish as bait for catching other types of fish;

gaffs with a hook width (distance from shank to point) of no more than 9 centimeters and landing nets for lifting fish caught with permitted fishing gear from the water;

fishing with simultaneous use of fishing gear of one type or different types with a total number of hooks not exceeding 5 per angler;

Anglers are permitted:

to catch fish, no more than 5 kilograms per angler per day and one fish, if the total weight including its weight exceeds 5 kilograms, or one fish weighing more than 5 kilograms;

to catch fish as bait for catching other types of fish, no more than 30 pieces per angler per day.
