Primroses – Let's Preserve Them for Future Generations!

Primroses are very vulnerable plants. In a short period, they need to accumulate nutrients necessary for the maturation and dispersal of seeds. By picking flowers, we prevent the plant from forming seeds for new generations. Moreover, the plant weakens and may die. The annual mass collection of primroses in March-April can lead to their disappearance in nature.

Among the primroses growing in Belarus, there are species included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus, the collection of which is prohibited. These species include: Pulsatilla pratensis and Pulsatilla patens, Viola uliginosa, Pulmonaria angustifolia, Allium ursinum, and other rare and endangered plant species.

By collecting primroses, we destroy them. It is not worth picking spring flowers; it is better to admire them in nature, preserving their beauty for future generations.

According to Article 24 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the Plant World," unauthorized removal and transplantation of wild plants belonging to species included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus from their natural habitat, their illegal trade, as well as their removal and other actions that may lead to their death, reduction in numbers, or disruption of their habitat, are prohibited.

Violators face fines ranging from 20 to 30 basic units for individuals, for individual entrepreneurs and legal entities – from 20 to 150 and from 30 to 500 basic units, respectively, as well as compensation for damage caused to the environment in the amount of 5 basic units per plant.
