Spring Flowers – Let's Preserve Them for Future Generations!
Spring flowers are very vulnerable plants. They need a short period to accumulate the nutrients necessary for seed maturation and dispersal. By picking the flowers, we prevent the plant from forming seeds for new generations. Furthermore, the plant weakens and may die. The annual mass collection of spring flowers in March-April can cause their extinction in the wild.
Among the spring flowers growing in Belarus, there are species included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus, the collection of which is prohibited. These species include: Pulsatilla pratensis and Pulsatilla patens, Viola palustris, Pulmonaria Angustifolia, Allium ursinum, and other rare and endangered plant species.
By collecting spring flowers, we destroy them. Do not pick spring flowers; it is better to admire them in nature, preserving their beauty for future generations.
According to Article 24 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the Plant World," the unauthorized removal and transplantation of wild plants belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus from their natural habitat, their illegal trade, as well as their removal and any other actions that may lead to their death, reduction in numbers, or disruption of their habitat, are prohibited.
Violators face fines ranging from 20 to 30 base units for individuals, from 20 to 150 base units for individual entrepreneurs, and from 30 to 500 base units for legal entities, as well as compensation for environmental damage in the amount of 5 base units per plant.
