First Deputy Head of the institution "Vitebsk Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus" Gavrilenko Andrey Vladimirovich held a village meeting in the agro-town of Ostrovno, Beshenkovichi district.

During his speech, Andrey Vladimirovich presented statistics on fires in the region and in the Republic as a whole, the main causes of fires and fatalities. Andrey Vladimirovich paid special attention to the prevention of child fatalities in fires and the prevention of fires due to children's carelessness with fire. The speech also covered safety rules at water bodies and noted that recently the number of water-related fatalities, including children, has increased in the republic.
