Sergey Kiryanov, Assistant Prosecutor of Beshenkovichi District, delivered a series of speeches in the format of "round tables" at the Department of Education and the Department of Compulsory Enforcement on the prevention of corruption crimes and offenses.

In his welcoming speech, the prosecutor's office employee stated that "in the Republic of Belarus, mechanisms of state anti-corruption policy have been created and implemented in practice, proving their effectiveness." An important part of this work is explaining the legislation.

Thus, "in Belarusian legislation, corruption is defined as the intentional use of official position for the unlawful acquisition of property or other benefits, as well as bribing an official or a person equated to them," as the assistant prosecutor noted for those present.

For reference: the system for organizing the fight against corruption includes:

- an anti-corruption regulatory legal framework and a mechanism for its implementation; delineation of functions of state bodies, areas of responsibility, and organization of their interaction in countering corruption;

- activities of special anti-corruption units;

- establishment of commissions, coordination councils, and meetings at various levels to combat crime and corruption;

- scientific support for the activities of state bodies in combating corruption;

- use of mass media, active involvement of citizens, public organizations, and labor collectives in anti-corruption activities.

Furthermore, "the Republic of Belarus is an active participant in a number of UN and Council of Europe conventions in the field of combating corruption and organized crime," as the prosecutor's office employee informed those present.

Fulfilling relevant international obligations, the Republic of Belarus consistently adopts legislative, administrative, and other anti-corruption measures within its legal system. The Law of the Republic of Belarus dated July 15, 2015, No. 305-Z "On Combating Corruption" is aimed at implementing the norms of the Constitution and international legal acts.

For reference: the Law on Combating Corruption establishes anti-corruption restrictions and prohibitions for state officials and persons equated to them; regulates the procedure for resolving conflicts of interest; contains legal regulation of income and property declaration, elimination of the consequences of corruption offenses, and control (including public) and supervision over anti-corruption activities.

The round table format was chosen deliberately, as it facilitates the exchange of opinions and participation in discussions, which the participants of the meeting took advantage of. The prosecutor's office employee provided reasoned answers to all questions received, including examples from judicial practice.

At the end of the forum, the participants thanked the prosecutor's office employee for the interesting and informative presentation.
