Procedure for the issuance of firewood in standing timber and in prepared form to the population

The sale of standing timber to the public is carried out by structural divisions (forestries) of a legal entity engaged in forestry, by issuing a timber harvesting permit. No more than 50 cubic meters of timber can be harvested under it. Individuals wishing to obtain a permit must submit a written application to the forestry office, which specifies: the purpose of obtaining a forest fund plot; the surname, given name, patronymic (if any), and place of residence of the citizen; the volume of timber planned for harvesting, and the period for which the forest fund plot is requested.

In accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 69 of the Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus, after the permit is issued, the logging area is transferred to the timber user. This is carried out by the forestry office with the drawing up of an acceptance-transfer act for the logging area, the form of which is approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Forestry dated December 19, 2016 No. 77 "On certain issues of marking forest fund plots granted for timber use on site and their transfer to legal entities engaged in forestry". It is important that when selling timber under permits, marking the logging area on site consists in marking the trees to be felled with paint.

The permit also serves as the basis for citizens to transport harvested timber. The transportation of harvested timber is carried out after its measurement by an official engaged in forestry.
If the forest user fails to remove the harvested timber within the established period and does not submit a written request for an extension of the removal period or does not carry out the prescribed work in connection with the granted extension, the harvested timber not removed within the established period shall be transferred free of charge to the disposal of the legal entity engaged in forestry and shall be used or sold by it in the manner prescribed by law.

The sale of firewood in harvested form is carried out by the structural unit of the legal entity engaged in forestry. To purchase firewood in harvested form, citizens must contact the forestry departments. To conclude a firewood supply agreement, passport data will need to be provided.
