Safe Holidays Rules
For children, holidays are a wonderful time that is eagerly awaited by every child. For adults, however, this is a time of worry and great responsibility. After all, the most important thing is to ensure that nothing happens to the child. Therefore, the Beshenkovichi District Department for Emergency Situations suggests once again recalling the dangers that can lie in wait for children and trying to avoid trouble together.
The first danger is fire. For the Ministry of Emergency Situations, fires in which children die remain among the most alarming. The main cause of fires with child fatalities, as practice shows, is the carelessness of parents who leave them unattended and children's pranks with fire. Adults sometimes do not even think that by leaving children even for a short time, they risk their lives. Of course, no parent wishes harm to their child, but in most cases, tragedies involving children are due to the ordinary carelessness of adults. Thus, in 2022, 627 people died in fires, including 14 children whose lives were claimed by fire. In order to protect your children's lives, you must not forget that adults are primarily responsible for children's pranks or carelessness. The main thing to explain to children is that matches and lighters are for household needs, but not for playing. Even a small spark can lead to great trouble anywhere, at home or on the street. Pay attention to explaining the dangers of experimenting with flammable liquids: tell children about
that checking for gasoline in a canister with matches and staging "circus shows" by igniting aerosols and sprays is prohibited. Teach your children the skills of proper behavior in case of a fire. Take a few minutes to learn emergency service numbers with your child, tell them about the rules of behavior in case of detecting the smell of smoke or fire. Explain to them that in case of fire, it is necessary to run outside and call for help. Under no circumstances should they hide. And, most importantly, under no circumstances leave young children unattended! Also, parents need to remember that criminal liability is provided for improper care of children in accordance with Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus "Leaving in danger".The eternal enemy of fire is water. But it can also pose a danger. Very soon the water in lakes and rivers will warm up and attract crowds of people, including children. Dear parents, explain to your children that they should not go to reservoirs without adult permission. Swimming is only allowed in designated areas!
Very often, children like to find interesting places for games. It is not uncommon for children to play in quarries. Rescuers remind that quarries are not a place for games. It is forbidden to dig trenches and crawl spaces in the sand, as it can collapse. It is forbidden to be on unstable and loose soil, or to approach the edge of the quarry. It is forbidden to approach operating quarry equipment. Explain and tell your children these simple rules.
It is strongly advised not to play near railways or roadways, as well as to avoid visiting vacant lots, abandoned buildings, and landfills.
When engaged in household chores, remember that a child should not be left to their own devices – you must know where they are and with whom they are playing. For young children, the advice is simple – do not leave them unattended, even for a few minutes.
Dear parents! Holidays are a wonderful time for rest, positive emotions, and vivid impressions. However, this is also the most dangerous period for children. Therefore, do everything you can to protect your child from trouble. Try to make your leisure time as safe as possible, stay close to your children, and take care of them!
