Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin and his first deputy Gennady Sabinich participated in the Easter service at the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Vitebsk.
The festive prayer service was officiated by Archbishop of Vitebsk and Orsha Dimitry, along with the vicar of the Vitebsk Diocese, Bishop Evsevy of Drutsk. The Holy Fire from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem was specially delivered to the cathedral for the service.
His Eminence read the Easter greeting from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' to the clergy and parishioners.
– Our faith is the foundation of everything. Feeling the grace of Christ's Resurrection, we must hold onto Divine love. God is spirit, and the main task of our lives is to cleanse our hearts and let God into them, – emphasized the Archbishop.
Alexander Subbotin presented His Eminence with a bouquet of white roses and thanked the church for preserving the moral foundations and Orthodox traditions, which are the bedrock of the life of the Belarusian people.
– Yesterday, all believers anxiously and hopefully awaited the descent of the Holy Fire in Jerusalem, and when it descended, it became clear: the Lord is once again giving people a chance to correct what can be corrected and to do something good in their lives. On the bright holiday of Christ's Easter, I want to wish everyone wisdom, goodness, peace, and prosperity in every home, – addressed the head of the regional executive committee to those present.
– May all our endeavors be done with God's help and blessing, may all people live in peace and harmony. As an Orthodox believer, I want to ask God for this year to be successful for farmers. Good health to everyone, – with these words Gennady Sabinich congratulated the parishioners.
Under the vaults of the temple, the words resounded: "Christ is Risen!" – "Truly He is Risen!"
