The "Cornflower Land" project will unite over 300 tourist sites in the Vitebsk region

The "Cornflower Region" project, being implemented in the Vitebsk region, will encompass over 300 key tourist sites in the region. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

"Currently, the project is being implemented in twelve districts of the region, where approximately 150 cornflowers with QR codes are located, meaning on 150 tourist sites. Once the 'Cornflower Region' initiative extends to the entire region, it will cover over 300 sites," the department explained. "Additionally, within this project, we aim to develop a tourist brand, associating it with the cornflower, as we have been recognized at international exhibitions for years by the cornflowers attached to our clothing (such elements are a mandatory part of our delegation's style). We are promoting this style. It's a distinctive feature of the Vitebsk region."

Tourists have already appreciated the convenience of using cornflowers with QR codes, which, when scanned, provide information about the site and its history. The system is designed so that a person only needs to download the scanning application. Users can scan and read the information without an internet connection. This format is particularly popular among individual travelers.

Cornflower guides will soon develop and deploy information for districts that did not participate in the pilot project "Cornflower Region," which is scheduled for implementation from 2021 to 2023. "Placing the cornflowers is not the issue. The challenge is to craft the text effectively. It should not be statistical data but artistically presented information that is interesting to the tourist. They won't stand and scroll through lengthy texts. It should be concise: minimum text, maximum information. We will need to assist the districts in developing such content," noted the regional Department of Sports and Tourism.
