Theft Prevention
An analysis of the criminal situation in the Beshenkovichi district has shown that theft remains the most common type of criminal offense. The share of thefts out of all crimes registered in the first half of 2020 in the district was 47.7%.
During the study of inspection materials, it was established that the main reasons and conditions for committing thefts are not only the low effectiveness of the work of responsible prevention entities in this area, but also the negligent attitude of citizens themselves towards ensuring the safety of their own property.
For example, most thefts from residential premises occur from vacant houses located in rural areas. At the same time, persons who use such residential premises do not take measures to maintain the territories of households in proper condition, and the houses themselves have an unsightly (abandoned) appearance.
In addition, these houses can become a gathering place for individuals leading an antisocial lifestyle, and can lead to people dying in them from fires or from the collapse of these buildings.
One of the areas of activity that contributes to reducing these risks is the work on accounting for and reducing the number of vacant and dilapidated houses with outbuildings and other structures in the manner established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 357 of 04.09.2018 (hereinafter – Decree No. 357).
In this regard, at the request of the district prosecutor, the work of the Beshenkovichi District Executive Committee on the timely implementation of the requirements of Decree No. 357 has been intensified.
In addition, I draw attention to the fact that citizens must also take all measures to ensure the safety of their own property and not leave it unattended for a long period of time.
