Beshenkovichi District Prosecutor's Office: 1 year and 6 months of restricted freedom with referral to an open-type correctional facility and a fine of 100 basic units for insulting a prosecutor's employee on "VKontakte"

The Beshenkovichi District Prosecutor's Office supported the state prosecution in court in a criminal case against a resident of Vitebsk, who was charged with publicly insulting a public official in connection with the performance of his official duties.
During the judicial investigation, it was established that in August 2021, S., while in an unspecified location, used an "iPhone" mobile phone from his "VKontakte" social network account to post an insulting comment addressed to the senior assistant prosecutor of Vitebsk. He posted this comment in connection with the supervisory authority representative performing his official duties and tasks assigned to the prosecutor's office.
In the court session, the accused pleaded guilty, repented of his actions, and to atone for his guilt, transferred 700 rubles to the account of an orphanage, and 200 rubles to the account of an animal shelter.
Considering the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Beshenkovichi District Court issued a guilty verdict. Based on Article 369 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, S. was sentenced to restricted freedom with referral to an open-type correctional facility for a period of 1 year and 6 months with a fine of 100 basic units.
According to the rules of Article 46-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the court applied special confiscation to the instrument of the crime – an "iPhone" mobile phone, which was gratuitously seized into state ownership.
The verdict has not entered into legal force and may be appealed and protested in the appellate procedure.
