Prosecutor's Office of Beshenkovichi District: Detention Sanctioned in Case of Participation in Extremist Formation and Insulting the President of the Republic of Belarus

The Prosecutor of Beshenkovichi District sanctioned the application of a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention against 54-year-old local resident S., who is accused of joining an extremist formation with the aim of committing extremist crimes (participation in an extremist formation) and publicly insulting the President of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the case materials, S., with the aim of committing extremist crimes, joined the extremist formation "Charter'97" no later than May 9, 2024, and, as its direct participant, using the eponymous internet resource, committed crimes against public order.
Also, in May of this year, S., using the username "E." on the "Charter'97" website, posted publicly accessible comments containing a public insult to the President of the Republic of Belarus.
The unlawful actions are qualified under Part 1 of Article 368 and Part 3 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
The criminal case is being handled by the Beshenkovichi District Department of the Investigative Committee.
The District Prosecutor sanctioned the application of a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention, taking into account the nature and public danger of the committed acts.
