The District Prosecutor's Office, during an inspection of the enforcement of legislation on the protection of children's rights in foster families, held a meeting with foster parents (to generalize positive experiences)
A foster family is one of the forms of placing orphaned children and children left without parental care for upbringing in a family. A foster family is formed on the basis of a decision by the guardianship and trusteeship authority to create a foster family, as well as an agreement on the conditions for the upbringing and maintenance of children and an employment contract.
One to four orphaned children and children left without parental care are transferred to a foster family for upbringing, taking into account children over whom guardianship (custody) has been established by one of the spouses.
In the Beshenkovichi district, 5 children (2 foster families) were placed in foster families during the first 9 months of 2020.
As of October 30, 2020, there are a total of 8 foster families (11 children) in the Beshenkovichi district.
The Department of Education, together with the State Educational Institution "Beshenkovichi District Social and Pedagogical Center," organizes systematic work to provide psychological assistance and socio-pedagogical support to foster families on current issues of the development and upbringing of foster children.
Based on the State Educational Institution "Beshenkovichi District Social and Pedagogical Center," a methodological group for foster parents has been organized, with meetings held quarterly.
On October 29, 2020, the district prosecutor's office organized a visit to this group and held a meeting with its participants.
The discussion was lively, and foster parents eagerly shared their successes, positive moments, and acquired experience with the prosecutor's office employee during the discussion. Foster parents also shared various life situations (both positive and negative) that they went through with the children.
It should be noted that foster parents in our district have good experience in raising children.
Thus, each parent has already raised and brought up their own child, and a significant number of parents have positive experience in successfully raising (and repeatedly) foster children. As foster parents note, the connection with children is not lost after they reach adulthood. Children willingly and quite often visit, call, and correspond with their foster parents.
During the meeting, examples of successful socialization of foster children were also presented.
For example, one of the girls raised in such a family has already received two higher education degrees (both pedagogical) and is currently studying part-time for a master's degree, while also working at a school. Another girl successfully graduated from Belarusian State University and works in her specialty at a travel agency. Such examples are not isolated.
