Beshenkovichi District Prosecutor Andrei Starchenko spoke to students, representatives of public associations and organizations of the district on International Museum Day

Every year, museum workers from different countries celebrate their professional holiday - International Museum Day. It appeared on the calendar in 1977, when at the regular meeting of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the proposal of the Russian organization to establish this cultural holiday was adopted. Since 1978, International Museum Day has been celebrated worldwide.

In honor of this memorable date, large-scale educational and entertaining events are held in all museums. The Beshenkovichi District Museum of History and Local Lore was no exception, where Beshenkovichi District Prosecutor Andrei Starchenko attended a friendly thematic meeting "Museum - Memory of Centuries" and spoke to the museum staff, representatives of the military commissariat, the emergency department, public associations, labor collectives, and schoolchildren of secondary school No. 2 of the district center about the progress of the genocide criminal case investigation.

Addressing the audience, the prosecutor noted the following: "during the investigation, the prosecutor's office is uncovering more and more facts testifying to the systematic, purposeful and brutal extermination of our people during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. At present, the district prosecutor's office has inspected all affected settlements during the war (burned villages), of which there are 111 in the district, with some of them being completely destroyed and not restored after the war."

This fate, in particular, befell the villages of Korenyovo and Yakubovshchina.

"At the moment, history is being rewritten, certain individuals are trying to distort the real facts about the war, so today, more than ever, it is important to know the reliable truth about the terrible events," Andrei Starchenko said, addressing those present.

The meeting participants thanked the prosecutor for his speech.
