Prosecutor of Beshenkovichi District Sent Criminal Case on Illegal Actions with Ammunition and Firearms to Court

The Prosecutor of Beshenkovichi District has sent a criminal case concerning illegal actions with ammunition and firearms, committed by a local resident, to court.

According to the case materials, the 33-year-old S., previously not convicted, illegally acquired 15 rifle cartridges, suitable for firing as ammunition for rifled firearms, which he found, transported, and stored at his place of residence between October 2016 and December 2022. After acquiring the ammunition during the specified period, he illegally modified a pneumatic rifle, changing its design so that it acquired the properties of a firearm suitable for firing, and stored it along with the ammunition at his place of residence until their seizure by internal affairs officers.

After reviewing the criminal case materials, the district prosecutor's office concluded that the charges were substantiated and the circumstances of the crimes were objectively investigated. They agreed with the qualification of S.'s actions under Part 2 of Article 295 and Part 3 of Article 295 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

The criminal case was handled by the Beshenkovichi District Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

The prosecutor, when sending the case to court, left unchanged the preventive measure previously applied to the accused, namely a recognizance not to leave and proper conduct.

In this regard, we would like to once again warn residents of the district that, by law, a person who voluntarily surrenders firearms, ammunition, or explosives is exempt from criminal liability.
