Employees of the inspection of supervision and prevention of the Beshenkovichi regional department for emergency situations conducted fire prevention work in the dormitory of the utility company "Beshenkovichi Communal Worker".
Right at the entrance to the dormitory, in the foyer, there is an information stand on fire safety measures. The dormitory is three-story, corridor-type, with two stairwells. On one side of the corridor there is an emergency stairwell, in the central part of the corridor there is the main staircase, and at the opposite end of the corridor there is a "dead end". It is the foyer and the "dead ends" that are often targeted by smoking residents.
Although it wasn't even necessary to go that far. While the inspector was talking to the dormitory residents about the need to comply with fire safety rules, a young man with a lit cigarette in his hand scurried past and, before anyone could react, he disappeared behind the door leading outside... "What are you surprised about, we have many like him!" explained one of the residents. "They leave their rooms into the corridor and immediately light a cigarette. Although there are signs everywhere warning that smoking is prohibited.
Moving on. In one of the so-called "dead ends" - a persistent tobacco smoke (apparently, we were only a minute or two late) and a full flower pot of cigarette butts on the window, serving as an ashtray. We knock on the adjacent room - no one opened the door.
Undeniably,
carelessness while smoking is the leading cause of all fire incidents. Most often, citizens who abuse alcohol become perpetrators and victims of fire in such cases. As is known, people in a state of alcoholic intoxication lose control over their actions and deeds, either fully or partially. It is not uncommon for an intoxicated person to throw unextinguished cigarette butts anywhere, lie down in bed with a lit cigarette, and not think about the consequences at all. In most cases, this category of citizens, along with their own safety, endangers the lives of their loved ones, as well as their neighbors. Such incidents are reported in the MES (Ministry of Emergency Situations) reports almost daily.November 8 2019 at 09-12 fromсоседей A report of an apartment fire in the village of Borovka Lepel district was received from neighbors.
