The Code of Administrative Offences has been updated as of March 1. Penalties for violating the procedure for organizing or holding mass events are significantly tightened.
Since March 1, an updated Code of Administrative Offenses has come into effect in Belarus. Among other things, it contains innovations for drivers, stricter liability for the use of unregistered symbols is provided for, and amendments have been made regarding violations of currency legislation.
Liability for disclosure of personal data has also been introduced, and a new type of administrative penalty – community service – has appeared.
Fines and the term of administrative arrest for unauthorized actions have been increased.
Significant changes have been made to the well-known Article 23.34 (now Article 24.23 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Liability for participating in unauthorized mass events has been tightened, and fines and the term of administrative arrest have been increased. Thus, the maximum fine under this article has been increased from 30 to 100 base units (from 870 to 2900 rubles). When prosecuted under this article for a second offense, one can be fined up to 200 base units or 5800 rubles (previously – 50 base units or 1450 rubles).
In the updated Code of Administrative Offenses, the maximum term of administrative arrest for participating in unauthorized mass events, i.e., one offense, remains 15 days. However, for repeated participation in an unauthorized mass event within a year, one faces from 15 to 30 days. At the same time, 30 days is the maximum possible term of administrative arrest, even if several offenses are committed at once (previously it was 25 days).
