Safe Holidays: The Ministry of Emergency Situations' Formula for an Ideal Summer

What should summer be like? The formula for an ideal vacation is simple: it should be sunny, fun, and most importantly, SAFE.

From May 15 to August 31, the republican information and propaganda campaign "Safe Holidays" will be held in all regions of the country. Its goal is to prevent fires caused by children's carelessness with fire, child fatalities and injuries, and to teach rules of conduct at water bodies.

To ensure that summer holidays for children pass without emergencies and are not overshadowed by tragic events, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will conduct the republican information and propaganda campaign "Safe Holidays" and fill the leisure time of children with many useful activities.

The campaign will be held in educational institutions of the district, in places of mass gathering of children and parents, as well as in health and after-school camps.

Through various game-based formats, children will gain knowledge in life safety, which is especially necessary during the summer period.

Statistics serve as a stark reminder of the need for constant vigilance:

- In 2024, 10 children died in fires across the country, and 91 fires were registered due to children's carelessness with fire. 22 children drowned at water bodies.

- In 2025, 4 children died in fires, and 23 fires occurred due to children's carelessness with fire. Tragic incidents were also recorded at water bodies: 12 children drowned in 2025.

Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations remind: dear parents, grandfathers, and grandmothers!

1. Never leave children unattended!

2. Keep matches and lighters out of reach, and do not allow children to play with fire.

3. Water safety. Remind children of the rules for safe behavior near water and ensure that children do not swim unattended. Remember that not only bodies of water but also wells, bathtubs, buckets of water, and decorative ponds pose a danger.

4. Windows and balconies. Keep children away from open windows and balconies.

5. Discuss dangerous situations and their consequences with children. The YouTube channel "MChS Detiam" (Emercom for Children) can help you with this.

Be a role model for your child and follow safety rules.

In case of any emergency, call 101 or 112.

Let's make this summer safe together!
