From November 3 to 21, the republican campaign "Belarus Against Nicotine" is taking place in the country

A large-scale anti-nicotine campaign is timed to coincide with World No Tobacco Day, which is observed annually on the 3rd Thursday of November at the initiative of the International Union Against Cancer. Its goal is to actively involve the population in the fight against this harmful habit by uniting the efforts of citizens, healthcare professionals, and volunteers.

The initiative aims to convey the message that the health of the nation is everyone's responsibility. Despite positive trends, such as a decrease in the proportion of smokers among the adult population, new challenges have emerged. Over the past 5 years, the number of users of electronic cigarettes, vapes, and heated tobacco systems has increased 20-fold. 90% of smokers start smoking before the age of 25.
Many do not realize that tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 chemical compounds, of which 43 are known carcinogens, as well as radioactive polonium, lead, and bismuth.
Smoking is a powerful risk factor for the development of not only oncological diseases (lung, larynx, esophageal cancer) but also cardiovascular pathologies, chronic bronchitis, strokes, and reproductive system problems.

Practical tips for those who want to quit smoking:

Deciding to quit is the main step;
Set a quit date and stop smoking immediately, not gradually;
Avoid situations that provoke smoking and the company of smokers, especially in the initial period;
Replace the smoking ritual with a healthy habit – use chewing gum, drink a glass of water, or do a few breathing exercises;
Reward yourself for every milestone achieved without cigarettes;
do not despair in case of relapse; with repeated attempts, the chances of success significantly increase;
seek medical help; a specialist can prescribe medication support that will alleviate withdrawal symptoms.
✓ The anti-nicotine campaign is an important public tool that allows not only to inform but also to create a supportive environment for those who have chosen a healthy life. Every broken cigarette, every posted photo with a hashtag, and every conversation about the dangers of nicotine contributes to the common cause – preserving the health of future generations.
