A resident of Vitebsk appealed to the governor for help. The woman spoke about a problem that has not been resolved for a long time: the basement of one of the multi-story buildings on Vostretsov Street in the regional center is constantly flooded. Residents of the apartment building have appealed to various authorities, but to no avail.

– I had a personal meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the regional executive committee Dmitry Petrusha. Literally a couple of days later, specialists arrived and started working, but they did not complete the job, – the woman said. – At the end of July, a drainage pump was installed to pump water out of the basement. It was there in August as well, but it couldn't cope, especially when it rained, water still flooded the entire basement. The specialists could not determine exactly where this water was coming from. Some suggested it was groundwater, others put forward different versions. Literally on the eve of my visit to you, they dug two wells, installed a drainage pump, but the water still doesn't completely drain, and there's mud all around.

The head of the main department of housing and communal services of the regional executive committee, Yuri Dyadelo, confirmed that he was aware of the situation and had visited the site.

– In 2025, the engineering networks in the basement were completely replaced, the sewage system was repaired, and the drainage system around the house was cleared, which ensures water runoff. These are the main reasons for the basement flooding. I met with the residents – we agreed that the house will remain under special control until the snow melts to ensure that the basement remains dry. Currently, water does not accumulate in the basement, but mud and dampness remain.

The Governor reacted quickly and decisively, setting a deadline for the end of the week for public utilities to resolve the issue.

– The cause should be eliminated, not just the actual presence of water, – noted Alexander Rogozhnik, adding that he would personally come next week to check the implementation of his instructions.

Residents of Vitebsk, Orsha, as well as Vitebsk and Beshenkovichi districts approached the head of the region with various problems. Among the issues were inflated electricity tariffs in the Sokoliniki horticultural partnership, violation of construction standards for neighboring household plots, and the implementation of the Dzerzhinsky Street reconstruction project in Orsha. In addition, at the reception, employees of the Vitebsk branch of the Polotsk Dairy Plant discussed the prospects of their production with the head of the region.
