Since the beginning of the year, 5 cases of suicide and the same number of parasuicides have been recorded in the Beshenkovichi district.

This statistic was announced today during the district executive committee meeting, which discussed the implementation of Directive No. 1 in the region, by Svetlana Roshchina, Chief Physician of the Beshenkovichi Central District Hospital.

Of the 5 people who took their own lives, 3 men and 2 women, four of them were under the influence of alcohol.

"Unfortunately, it is difficult to prevent suicides," noted Svetlana Roshchina. "Of the five deaths by suicide, four were not within the scope of preventive measures. Their decision to end their lives was impulsive and unpredictable."

To prevent suicide cases in the district, comprehensive measures are being implemented, which include preventive work with various categories of the population, including children and adolescents.

Considering the fact that alcohol consumption contributes to an increase in suicidal activity, significant attention is paid to efforts to reduce alcohol consumption by the district's population.

"The prevention of suicidal behavior is one of the most important tasks for society, the solution of which is possible only through the combined efforts of all departments into a unified preventive strategy," summarized Alexey Bukhalovich, First Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee.
